Leaders at Work
 

Leaders at Work is a national FCCLA program that recognizes FCCLA members who create projects to strengthen leadership skills on the job. These skills contribute to success across a broad range of career fields. Leaders at Work motivates students to prepare for career success.

Leaders at Work Units and Topic Areas:

Youth learn leadership skills in specific career areas and create Leaders at Work projects to fit personal goals in one of six career areas related to Family and Consumer Sciences.

  • Food Production and Services
  • Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation
  • Housing, Interiors, and Furnishings
  • Textiles and Apparel
  • Family and Consumer Sciences Education
Partners: Leaders at Work CD:

The Leaders at Work CD provides learning activities and skill exploration to help youth become Leaders at Work now and in the future. Leadership areas include:
  • Communication on the job
  • Interpersonal Skills on the job
  • Management on the job
  • Entrepreneurship on the job

Awards:

Each member may apply to be recognized as a Leaders at Work Outstanding Leader in one of the six career areas. These young people are recognized at the annual FCCLA National Leadership Meeting and earn an impressive accomplishment to add to their resumes. In addition to National Outstanding Leader recognition, students may apply for available scholarships.

 
  • American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) sponsors one Family and Consumer Sciences Education scholarship.
  • Huber Buchenroth sponsors one Textiles and Apparel scholarship.
  • Johnson and Wales University sponsors two Food Production and Services and two Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation scholarships.

Deadline:

Award and scholarship applications due to FCCLA National Headquarters postmarked by March 1.
