Turn trash into ca$h and be a HERO to the environment. Support the HERO Connection Scholarship by recycling empty printer cartridges and used cell phones.
Minnesota FCCLA-HERO is involved in the FundingFactory® Recycling Program! This fundraiser is FREE and simple because there’s nothing to sell, no paperwork to fill out and no deadline. The program runs year-round, accumulating constant income for our efforts. But we won’t get very far without your support.
How can you help? Instead of throw-ing away empty cartridges from your printer, fax machine and desktop copier, send them in to Funding Factory. You can sign up in the business support program to get prepaid shipping boxes sent to your location free of charge. Business supporters simply need to load the boxes and leave them for the next UPS pickup. Interested in supporting us in this way, please call Funding Factory toll-free at 1.888.883.8237. Give the customer service represent-ative our ID number, 39319 and they’ll set you up to support our account.
Last year alone, more than 300 million cartridges were thrown away, while 30,000,000 cell phones were tossed or replaced. We’re alleviating the volume of waste that goes into landfills, while collecting cash we need to keep our scholarship program running smoothly. Your help is vital to our fundraising success.
The money raised goes to the HERO Connections scholarship fund. Two $500 scholarships will be given out in April at State Leadership Conference.

Your Chapter can win a Pizza Party
You get to decide if your chapter wins this contest. Between Jan. 5 and April 25, 2008, every qualifying cartridge or cell phone you send to FundingFactory will earn one “Pizza Point.” For every 400 Pizza Points you earn, we’ll send you a $50 pizza party gift card to Pizza Hut. This bonus is in addition to the state contest we are running for the most points collected and the most supporters signed up. Start earning Pizza Points today!
The Funding Factory realizes that 400 qualifying items is a big goal for a four-month time span. That’s why we’re offering a $10 doughnut party for participants that don’t quite make it to 400 points. Earn the doughnut party with 200 to 399 qualifying items during the same time frame. The doughnut party will be delivered after the contest ends in the form of two books each containing five $1 certificates to Dunkin’ Donuts.
State Contests
At State Leadership Conference in April, we will be giving out two state awards. One is to the Chapter that earns the most points and the other to the chapter that signs up the most business supporters of Minnesota FCCLA-HERO Funding Factory collection efforts. All chapters will be recognized at SLC. It takes about 2 weeks to process the points, so send in your collections early. The winning chapters in each category will receive a trash can filled with munchies and pop.
So do not delay, start sending in those cell phone and cartridges today.
