Secondary Technical Center Duluth - Child Care Careers

Last May, the Minnesota Department of Education honored eight programs in the category of exemplary Service Learning programs.  Kinder Korner Preschool at the Secondary Technical Center in Duluth was awarded one of these awards.

Kinder Korner preschool is a student-run and state licensed preschool that seeks to not only enhance the learning and development of practical career skills using FCCLA-HERO competitive events in practice, but to provide high quality, affordable childcare within the Duluth area.  The preschool is vitally linked to the Childcare, Education and Guidance Careers course offered by the Duluth Public School District at the Secondary Technical Center.  The program seeks to give students knowledge of child development and teaching skills that are directly applied in the operation of Kinder Korner Preschool.  Every student in class is a member of one of three FCCLA-HERO chapters and uses the state and STAR events as an integrated part of the curriculum.

Congratulations to Bobbi Hoyt and the Kinder Korner preschool.

More than 5,300 FCCLA chapter members, advisors, and guests dusted off their cowboy hats and two stepped to Nashville, for a boot scootin' good time!  These members really amplified their experience!
